Luis Alonso Sánchez has a degree in visual arts from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, Tijuana campus. He was a beneficiary of the program of Support for Artistic Production by the Tijuana Cultural Center (2016). He has been part of multiple selections in biennials, group exhibitions and art fairs. His most recent solo exhibition is entitled Con un pie en la sepultura y otro en una cascara de plátano, at Casa Lu Sur, (CDMX, 2024). He was also part of the group exhibition SDE & Friends, at Rio Tiber (CDMX, 2024). His work is mainly developed in painting, sculpture and installation. He is co-director of the Sala de Espera platform, a project focused on the exhibition of diverse practices of contemporary art and culture in Tijuana, where he develops his work as a curator and manager. He lives and works in Tijuana, Mexico.

As an artist living in Tijuana, in a liminal space, he is constantly invited to investigate the mechanics that construct what can be considered as the ”visuality of the border”, whether located as saturated, decaying or mutating.
